Martin Kvietik, the defendant in the Dobytkár case, called the testimony of the key witness Marek Kolada crooked and purposeful. “I’m begging for these manipulated statements,” he responded to the witness in court. He said he did not understand how a dubious and questionable accused could become a witness whose credibility is presumed. “Criminal practice has invented an artificial solution to do this. It is enough to select a blackmailable co-accused for separate proceedings and suddenly you have a witness,” said Kvietik. He called the witness a liar and a fraud.
