LE MANS – The Slovak car team ARC Bratislava finished 15th in its LMP2 class at the 89th year of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. He finished 24th overall. Toyota drivers triumphed for the fourth time in a row, with the trio of Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Jose Maria Lopez succeeding for the first time, winning after 371 laps, more than 5,000 kilometers and 33 pit stops. This trio has been second twice and third once in the past three years.

Two Slovak competitors presented themselves in the yellow colors of ARC Bratislava – the experienced Miroslav Konôpka and for the first time also his son Matej Konôpka, behind the wheel of the prototype Oreca 07-Gibson they were joined by the British Oliver James Webb. A total of 61 vehicles started on the 13.6 km long La Sarthe circuit.

Conway, Kobayashi and Lopez ended a long wait for victory in the famous endurance race. In vehicle number seven, they triumphed with a two-lap lead over their teammates, vehicle number eight, which dominated the previous three years. Alpine A480-Gibson finished third.

They moved this year’s race at Le Mans from its traditional June date to welcome at least 50,000 spectators in the stands, about 20 percent of the usual number. Last year, the event took place for a coronavirus pandemic completely without spectators.
