We enjoyed a relatively quiet Sunday in Slovakia today. Somewhere the sun was shining, somewhere fog prevailed – typical autumn. However, residents in the north of France, where two tornadoes descended in the evening, definitely cannot say that. Very stormy weather prevailed in Western Europe today. Strong storms raged in the south of England, but also in France, which meteorologists warned against today. In the end, however, the storms were much stronger. Behind everything is an advancing cold front that has been moving further east. We remind you that the weather should also affect our territory tomorrow. But let’s get back to what’s happening in Western Europe. It was there that strong storms were expected during the day. However, the occurrence of a tornado was not expected. Up to two tornadoes in the north of France A strong wave of storms hit Western Europe on Sunday afternoon and evening. In a few hours, the lightning detectors there caught over 50,000 lightning strikes. Considering that we are in the third decade of October, this is a decent number. The weather caused a lot of damage, especially in the north of France. A pair of tornadoes that touched down in the area took care of it. The first tornado caused damage in the village of Bihucourt in the Hauts-de-France region. It tore roofs off houses, broke trees, destroyed power lines and knocked down fences. Another tornado is reported in the village of Conty. This is the same region as in the first case. Even in this village, a huge devastation was left after the tornado. As is the case with tornadoes, experts will evaluate them in the next few days. However, according to some, it already looks like at least one of them has reached F2 strength. No injuries or victims have yet been reported. Even though the damage caused by the tornadoes is huge, there are also positive reports coming from the affected area. So far, no serious injuries or casualties have been reported. In addition, the wave of warm weather is expected to continue in the following days.
