When will companies receive help for high energy prices? Matovič spoke: Blame on SaS – Nový Čas

The beginning of aid to companies with high energy prices will be delayed from the originally planned November to December due to the blocking of the parliament by the opposition SaS party. Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) said this in the Sunday talk show of RTVS O 5 minut 12. The chairman of the financial committee of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic, Marián Viskupič (SaS), rejected the criticism. The government should present the plan to help companies to the social partners at the tripartite meeting on Monday. “Precisely due to the fact that the SaS basically blocked the adoption of the budget for two weeks, with which we could subsequently launch aid for companies, we probably won’t have time to help companies from November 1. I assume that the aid will only be available from December 1,” said Matovič. According to the minister, blocking the parliament by the opposition, including SaS, during the approval of changes to the state budget for this year was bullying and proving that the government does not have a majority in the parliament. Viskupič countered that the government could change the draft budget to its current form in one day and did not have to try to approve it repeatedly. According to him, the Minister of Economy Karel Hirman, for example, welcomed the clarification of the purpose of the expenses, which was finally enforced by SaS in the amendment to the law. Matovič did not want to specify what energy prices households and companies in Slovakia can expect next year. However, he compared the capping of power electricity prices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where, based on the memorandum with Slovak Power Plants, the price of power electricity should remain at the current level of around 61 euros per megawatt hour, while in the Czech Republic, according to the minister, it should be triple.
