Businesses could find out on Monday (October 24) how their energy prices will rise next year. Households should know in a week. In the TV Markíza Na telo talk show, Speaker of the Parliament Boris Kollár (We are a family) stated this. SaS leader Richard Sulík claims that energy prices would not have had to rise at all if the government had completed what he started at the Ministry of Economy. Kollar could not say the exact increase in energy prices. According to him, it can be an average of 20 euros per month for a household. On Monday, the tripartite will meet and determine the electricity ceiling for the industry. He claims that this will be a price that the industrial sector will be able to handle and survive. He believes that the price of electricity should not rise for households that heat with gas, light and cook with electricity. This is, for example, people living in a block of flats. According to Kollár, people who use more electricity will feel a slight increase in prices. It can be ten to 15 euros. According to Kollár, those who own a house must expect a higher price increase. “I can assure households that we will set the increase in electricity prices in such a way that the economy will also survive, that we will sustain it,” stated Kollár. Sulíka regrets that the coalition deviated from the goal of saving 15 percent of electricity. For those who would save, the price of electricity would not rise at all. “It was set up this way, it was enough to finish it. I’m sorry that they had to do it differently,” noted Sulík. At the same time, he pointed out that European electricity and gas prices have been falling significantly in recent weeks. Sulík assessed the proposal to return 20 percent of the value of sales from blocks from gastro businesses as another “nuclear weapon” of the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO). He thinks this will lead to an increase in prices. He therefore proposes a reduction of VAT for gastro to 10 percent. Kollár also agrees with this. If such a proposal comes from the government, he votes for it. “If the VAT were reduced to 10 percent, the catering industry would also stop fooling around, inventing secret cash registers, stop chewing the cud and start paying taxes,” assessed Kollár. He considers Matovič’s proposal to be complicated.
