Bloody protests in Chad: authorities and opposition blame each other

The tension had partially subsided on Friday in Chad the day after an unprecedented day of violence during anti-power demonstrations which left around fifty people dead across the country. The authorities point singled out one of the opposition leaders: Succès Masra, a pet peeve of the Chadian authorities. The leader of the opposition party “Les Transformateurs” did not take part in the national dialogue, which he considered non-transparent. On Saturday, in Paris, members of the Chadian diaspora paid tribute to the victims. Present at the rally, the party “Les Transformateurs” blames the violence on the N’djamena authorities.
