At the end of a match of rare intensity, Olympique de Marseille was surprised by Lens (0-1), this Saturday, during the 12th day of Ligue 1. A second consecutive loss at the Vlodrome for the club phocen which sees its executioner of the evening take the 2nd place with 4 points in advance. Pereira da Costa offered the victory Lens. It was not necessary to lose this shock. And Olympique de Marseille lost it. Two weeks after being fooled by Ajaccio (1-2), the Marseille club fell again at the Vlodrome against Lens (0-1), this Saturday, during the 12th day of Ligue 1. Despite many hot situations , the southern team, 4th, lacked realism and luck against the very serious Sang-et-Or who took 2nd place with a 4-point lead. A very committed first period Two teams in an almost similar pattern, very committed midfielders, the start of the match set the tone. Intense, physical combat, the protagonists surrendered blow for blow which did not facilitate the work of the referee, a little too close to his whistle. A muscular and tight opposition in which Fofana pulled out of the game by often pushing the Marseillais into error since Kolasinac and Rongier were warned for having stopped him illegally. And the opportunities, in all a? Openda and Fofana warmed up Lopez’s gloves while Harit tested Samba’s reflexes. Veretout, he missed the target on his two axial attempts. On the whole, the locals nevertheless got the hottest situations thanks to the incisive overflows of the pistons. Before the break, Clauss was not far from playing a bad trick on his former club but his volley from close range did not find the target. Mbemba missed the boat, Balerdi unhappy In the second half, it was Lens who had control of the ball, always in the wake of a hyperactive Fofana. Only, the Ivorian environment lost a lot of energy and lucidity when it came to concluding. After a good quarter of an hour, the trend was reversed and OM pressed the accelerator again. It took a decisive save from Samba to fend off Mbemba’s point-blank shot while Lopez also won his duel against Fofana. Lens ended up having the second option. On a shot from 30 meters, Pereira da Costa took advantage of a deviation from Balerdi to open the scoring with the bar (0-1, 78th). A goal that definitely froze the Vlodrome especially as the Artsiens closed the shop double turn behind a Danso author of a memorable match. A sacred victory for Lens which inflicts Marseille its second defeat in a row at home. Score of the match: 7.5/10 A match of rare intensity. A constant fight between two teams who gave everything to take the three points. OM were a little more dangerous but Lens didn’t die and ended up making the difference thanks to their selflessness and a bit of success. The team that wanted it the most ended up winning. In any case, we had a great time, even if the referee used his whistle a bit. . At 30 meters, the Portuguese playmaker lands a big shot against by Balerdi who lobs Lopez under his bar (0-1, 78th). match: Kevin Danso (8/10) The Austrian central defender was monstrous. Jostled by Sanchez, the Lensois ended up winning his very muscular duel with the Marseille striker. A real ball of power, the number 4 of Lens gave of his person to repel almost all the opposing offensives in his sector. He confirmed his position among the best players in the championship in his post. MARSEILLE: Pau Lpez (7): the Spanish goalkeeper answered present. He made two important saves in front of Openda and Fofana to preserve his team’s chances. He was finally beaten on a strike against by Balerdi a few seconds after a superb save against Sotoca. What to have it bad. Chancel Mbemba (6): a match the image of his season: good. Despite the liveliness of the Lensois attackers, the Congolese central defender made use of his experience to manage his area well. His only regret? This standard opportunity is missing at the penalty spot when there was much better to do. A rat that weighs a lot in the end … Leonardo Balerdi (4): the Argentinian definitely does not succeed. Jostled in almost all the duels by the Lensois attackers, the southern central defender, in spite of himself, precipitated the fall of his team by countering a strike from Pereira da Costa which would not have worried Lopez a priori. Very hard to swallow. Sead Kolasinac (not rated): the Bosnian defender did not last long. Very aggressive on the ball carrier, the former Arsenal player, warned, quickly gave way, visibly injured in the right knee. Replaced in the 22nd minute by Pape Gueye (5), who played an unusual position as central defender. Stunned following a duel with Frankowski, he left a few boulevards behind him in the second period. Jonathan Clauss (6): for his first against his former club, the Marseille right-back did the job. He was hard-hitting in his lane, offering great scoring opportunities, especially Veretout. However, he too may regret his huge missed opportunity at the end of the first period. Defensively, he was rarely worried. Replaced the 80th minute by Issa Kabor (not not). Valentin Rongier (5): average. The Marseille captain made little contribution overall. He takes a hell of a draft on the eastern control of Pereira da Costa which leads to the Lensois goal. A lack of vigilance which is expensive. Jordan Veretout (5.5): a copy roughly similar to that of his double-pivot partner. With the difference that the midfielder passed through Nantes tried without succeeding in converting his situations. An inaccuracy which did not help OM.Nuno Tavares (5): a lot of energy, a lot of outbursts, but still and always a lack of lucidity in the last gesture which shows its limits hidden from its thundering beginnings. He has little combined with his partners. Matto Guendouzi (6.5): like Mbemba, the French midfielder has done the job. His ability to plug gaps, retreat, project himself, did OM good. He notably saved his people in the first period in a risky duel in the area against Fofana. Replaced in the 76th minute by Dimitri Payet (not rated). Amine Harit (6.5): the Moroccan playmaker was the most stirring of the Marseille offensives. He heated Samba’s gloves twice after some great breakthroughs. The difference could have come from him, but the success was not there. Replaced in the 76th minute by Cengiz nder (not noted). Alexis Snchez (6): a goal would have allowed him to offer a very high level copy. The Chilean striker was incredibly selfless with defensive withdrawals worthy of a stopper. He offered a gch Mbemba caviar and had a hell of a duel with Danso. He did not blush at his performance. Replaced the 76th minute by Bamba Dieng (not not). LENS: Brice Samba (7.5): he too found his former club and he too had a hell of a match. Well helped by Danso, the Lensois goalkeeper made several important saves including a reflex save in front of Mbemba to prevent OM from taking the lead. Here is one who would not be too much for the French team with Maignan’s injury… Massadio Hadara (5.5): the Malian defender took a lot of time to succeed in blocking Harit’s incessant percussion. He is better in the last half hour with a tighter block. Kevin Danso (8): read comment above. Facundo Medina (7): a match for him. With his grinta, the Argentinian defender managed the pressure well, but above all his zone. His sharp pass for Pereira da Costa makes the difference on the action of the goal. Przemyslaw Frankowski (6): correct. The Polish side was able to position itself to block Nuno Tavares’ climbs. He talked about solutions in his lane to avoid the game. Salis Abdul Samed (6): the Ghanaian was interesting in his ability to keep the block high enough not to suffer. Even if he was less effective in recovery than in the games at the start of the season, the former Clermontois was serious. Jean Onana (6.5): established for this shock, the Cameroonian midfielder held his rank. Physically, technically, the former Bordelais made a more than serious copy to put Lens to hold the line high at OM. Replaced in the 56th minute by David Pereira da Costa (not noted), scorer of a long shot deflected by Balerdi. A success that provokes itself. Seko Fofana (7.5): very big game from the Ivorian midfielder. Indestructible, he multiplied the races on both sides of the field to wear out the Marseillais, who had a lot of trouble stopping him. His overflowing activity was a real headache. He only missed one goal to make a perfect copy. A real leader’s match. Deiver Machado (6): much less offensive than usual, the Colombian left side nevertheless tried a few breakthroughs to push back the Marseille block. He is not far from taking over a powerful cross from Fofana on the return from the locker room. Replaced in the 82nd minute by Ismal Boura (not rated). Florian Sotoca (5): a match of duty for the Lensois striker who was good in the pressing. On the other hand, he never managed to get into a shooting position. Lois Openda (4): a complicated evening for the Belgian striker. Often sent to coal on long balloons, he had difficulty expressing himself against the Marseille defenders. Apart from his strike stopped by Lopez in the first period, we saw him little. Replaced in the 56th minute by Wesley Sad (not rated).+ Find the results and the Ligue 1 standings on Maxifoot And for you, who were the best and worst players of the match?
