UK Trade Minister Sir James Duddridge, a close Johnson ally, told PA Media that Johnson will land back in Britain on Saturday and join the race to replace outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss. Duddridge told the PA news agency that he had been in contact with Johnson via Whatsapp, and that he said: “‘I’m flying back, Dudders. Let’s do it. I’m up for it.'” The minister also tweeted: “Hope you enjoyed your vacation boss. Time to get back. A few office business to deal with. #bringbackboris.” Sky News said one of its reporters, who boarded Johnson’s flight, took a photo of the former prime minister and his wife Carrie Johnson on board, adding that the couple received several boos from other travellers.
