Sánchez points out that there will be additional aid to the Perte VEC after Volkswagen’s threat of not building the gigafactory in Sagunt

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured that there are different additional aids to those collected by the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (Perte VEC) and that they can be articulated both by the autonomous communities and by resources of the State. After the celebration of the European Council, Sánchez pointed out that this Friday, through the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, the funds granted by the Government for the projects presented to the Perte VEC have been announced. , which reach an amount of 880 million euros, out of a total budget of 2,975 million euros. The President of the Government highlighted the importance of the automobile industry for the Spanish economy and stressed that in addition to the Perte VEC “there are other aids” that they will be given through the autonomous communities and through State resources. These statements by Sánchez come after that this Thursday, from the Volkswagen group they asked the Executive for speed in the presentation of the final results on the granting of the Perte VEC aid and that they indicated that they would wait in the company to know the amount awarded to make a decision on the project of the battery gigafactory in Sagunto (Valencia). “We are going to continue working with the Volkswagen group and Seat and with the rest of the manufacturers so that Spain continues to be a world benchmark for electric cars, including batteries, and their manufacture in Spain , with important projects such as the Sagunto gigafactory”, added the Chief Executive. The Volkswagen group plans to mobilize, together with more than 60 companies, through the ‘Future: Fast Forward’ initiative, more than 10,000 million euros in the electrification of the Spanish industry and to turn the country into a ‘hub’ of electric mobility. The Sagunto project alone contemplates an investment by the private sector of 3,000 million euros.
