The Barcelona Restoration Guild caricatures the City Council in a video for the denial of terrace licenses

The Barcelona Restoration Guild has used humor to criticize the Barcelona City Council’s policy regarding the awarding of licenses for the terraces that were installed as a result of the pandemic. The entity has released a video, which comes a week after the agreement between the Guild and the Consistory on Christmas lighting, in which it parodies an alleged municipal official systematically denying all the requests that she receives without even evaluating them. In the video, another municipal worker from the terraces department is seen delivering the requests to the official, who dismisses them by simply saying “no” while she eats, sleeps or straightens her hair. When her partner asks why, she wields articles 9 and 10 of the Municipal Ordinance on terraces, which regulate their location and their relationship with other urban elements and buildings. 📽️▶️ The City Council is denying 70% of the terrace requests after having promised that most are consolidated. And she changes the initial “no” to a default “yes”. That is what the Barcelona Restaurant Guild hopes will happen. With this cartoonish video, they denounce that the City Council has denied “70% of the requests for terraces after having promised that most of them would be consolidated.” And for this reason they ask themselves “what value can the word of a government that breaks its commitments have?” According to El Periódico, until September the Barcelona City Council had processed 55% of the applications and had approved 459 and rejected 1,075.
