Navalny, confirmed in Russia, sentenced to 9 years

The Moscow Court of Cassation has rejected an appeal against the sentence that sentenced the dissident Alexei Navalny to nine years in prison for fraud and contempt of the court. This was reported by the Russian press agency Interfax. Sentenced on March 22, while he was already serving another sentence, Navalny is now in the penal colony no.6 of Melekhovo, where he has been confined several times for long periods in solitary confinement. Among the main opponents of the Kremlin, Navalny has also lashed out against the war in Ukraine. The international community considers him a political prisoner.
