The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Occitania confirms, Sunday August 22, 2021, the death of a newborn whose test Covid-19 postmortem was found to be positive.

The death was declared at birth in a maternity hospital in the region. The young mother was also a carrier of the Covid-19 virus.

“With regard to the confidentiality of information in the individual medical file, and out of respect for the bereavement which affects these young parents and their relatives”, the ARS Occitanie will not provide any further details on this death.

In total, since the start of the epidemic, seven children under 10 died of Covid-19 in France.
