The police found the attacker from Zámocká Street this morning (13.10), who shot two people. “We can reassure the public that they are not in danger of another attack by the shooter from Zámocká Street in Bratislava. This morning, the police tracked down the shooter. Mrtveho,” said Michal Slivka, spokesman for the Presidium of the Police Force. He added that procedural actions are currently underway, and the police will provide more information as soon as possible. They searched for the shooter all night. The tragic incident took place around 19:00 h near the Tepláreň business, which is known for the LGBTI community meeting there. The shooter fled the scene after the attack, a search operation was launched. A police helicopter was also looking for the man. According to witnesses, approximately ten shots were fired at the scene. The victims are two men under the age of 30. A waitress from one of the establishments was also injured during the attack and was taken to the hospital. According to our information, his life is out of danger. ​Motives for the attack Initially, two possible motives for the attack were mentioned, but the more probable one points to the actions of a young, approximately 18-year-old extremist. The attack was claimed by an account on the social network that published an extremist manifesto shortly before. In it, he expressed hatred towards LGBTI people and Jews. Twitter deleted him. The owner of the account later stated that he was going to commit suicide, then he went silent. “In order for us as the Police Force to be able to publish his motive, it is necessary to complete the necessary actions. We will inform you about everything, we are thinking about active communication, but we all have to be patient and give the investigator time and space,” the police informs on the social network. “And whether it is a hate motive or not, we want to assure the public that the Police Force maintains zero tolerance for any form of violence, bullying or hatred,” added the police. Special prosecutor Daniel Lipšic also arrived at the place where the dead perpetrator was found, who confirmed that he was the person who shot on Zámocká street on Wednesday evening. He stated, among other things, that they already know the origin of the weapon and the shooter’s route around Bratislava. However, since the investigation is only at the beginning, he did not want to be more specific. “So far, the probable motive for this act is hatred towards persons of a different race, a different sexual orientation.
