On the run from Putin and the war, two Russians flee to Alaska by boat

Two Russian citizens fleeing the call of President Vladimir Putin’s military reservists have landed on a remote Alaska island in the Bering Sea and are seeking asylum in the United States. The two arrived by boat on a beach near Gambell, a small community on the northwest tip of the island of San Lorenzo about 40 miles from mainland Russia.
