A cyberattack interrupts the activity of 13 health centers in Barcelona

A cyberattack like the one suffered by the Generalitat a few months ago has affected 13 centers of the Barcelona Comprehensive Health Consortium (CSI) this morning and has forced the interruption of patient care. Hospitals and primary centers maintain emergency activity and all consultations that can be carried out without the need for a computer. The scope is unknownFrom the CSI they claim to be unaware of the scope of the attack: it could only affect the individual computers of the health and administrative staff or part of the server. In any case, they have a backup that guarantees that important data such as the clinical history of patients is not lost. The Cybersecurity Agency of Catalonia has taken charge of the investigation first thing in the morning. Sources from the Comprehensive Health Consortium, a public entity in which the Generalitat, different municipalities and the Red Cross, among others, participate, indicate that it is still early to know in depth the causes and effects of the cyberattack and when the computer systems can be fully restored.
