today 14:10 | The camps of overseas NHL teams are coming to an end, and the number of Slovaks in them has decreased. How are our players doing? 18 of them were introduced in the camps. Eight have already been sent to the AHL farm, one returned to the Slovak extra league and one to the Canadian junior team. Four are certain of their place in the NHL and four are still fighting for a place in the first team. Anaheim Ducks – Pavol Regenda (NHL) He played in Michalovce half a year ago, but thanks to the great performances he followed up in the national team, he won a contract with the NHL team. Pavol Regenda is one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises of the camps. In five duels in the Anaheim jersey, he collected 6 points for 3 goals and 3 assists. He was especially successful in the last game, when he scored once and assisted twice. He has already made it to the last fifteen participants and is receiving positive feedback. It seems that he could write the perfect story and start the season in the first team in the NHL. Read also: Regenda shines in the camp, even the coach of Anaheim Arizona Coyotes does not spare his praise – Miloš Kelemen (farm) Miloš Kelemen has a similar story to Pavol Regenda. With performances in the Czech extra league and the national team, he won a contract with Arizona. However, he will not start the season in the first team. He played three matches in preparation, managed to score one goal. Arizona then sent him to the AHL farm, where he will fight for an invitation to the first team. Calgary Flames – Martin Pospíšil (farm), Adam Ružička (NHL) The first named is recovering from an injury. When he recovers, he will start playing in the AHL. During the season, he will fight for his first chance to start a duel in the NHL, he will start his fourth year at the farm. Adam Ružička is still part of the first team, but there are not exactly positive reactions to his performances. The Flames tried him on the wing, but he did not prove himself. There is a lot of competition for the center position. His next place of work is still unclear, but if they want to send him to the farm, they will have to place him on the waiver list, from where another club can pick him up. Last season he played 28 duels in the NHL with a record of 5+5. Read also Adam Ružička is one of the biggest disappointments. In the Calgary Flames camp, Columbus Blue Jackets did not impress – Samuel Kňažko (farm) In the Columbus camp, the Slovakian defender had huge competition. Rather than fighting for a place in the NHL, there was talk of fighting for a place in the AHL. For now, it looks like he will start the season there and the club will not send him back to the junior WHL, where he spent last season. Dallas Stars – Marián Studenič (farm) Marián Studenič could not stay in the Stars first team. The club sent him to the farm even at the cost of having to place him on the waiver list, from which, however, no one picked him up. He will thus be in the same position as in recent years, when he constantly shuttled between the first team and the farm. Los Angeles Kings – Martin Chromiak, Dávid Hrenák (both farm) The Slovak duo in Los Angeles should also start the season on the farm. For striker Martin Chromiak, this will be the first full year at the farm, he played only two matches there last year. He otherwise played in the junior OHL, where he was in one attack with the Canadian Shane Wright. Goalkeeper Dávid Hrenák had a taste of the AHL in three games last season, now he should get more opportunities on the farm. He previously caught in the collegiate NCAA. Both will fight for the chance to play their first duel in the NHL. Minnesota Wild – Servác Petrovský (OHL) After a few days of the main camp, Minnesota sent this year’s draft pick from the 6th round back to the junior OHL, where Servác Petrovský has already played the first two games. He should play the whole season there. Montreal Canadiens – Juraj Slafkovský (NHL), Filip Mešár (AHL) Draft unit is still in the first team. However, Montreal still has two preseason games ahead of it, and the club can decide at any time to send Juraj Slafkovský to the AHL. He has played four matches so far, of which he was significantly successful in only one. Filip Mešár pleasantly surprised with his performance at the camp. He settled in the position of central striker. He confused Montreal, who allegedly wanted to send him to a junior school. For now, he transferred him to the AHL, where he will fight for a place. There is also the possibility that he will play the season in Europe. Read also Juraj Slafkovský does not belong to the NHL yet. It won’t be a shame to send him to the farm, he says… New Jersey Devils – Šimon Nemec, Tomáš Tatar (both NHL) He played two out of five meetings in preparation, New Jersey still has two more games to play and Šimon Nemec is still in the first team, in which still has 11 defenders left. He will start the season either in the NHL or on the farm in the AHL. Tomáš Tatar has a certain place in the first team and probably also in the first attack. He is doing exceptionally well in training, having already scored three goals. New York Islanders – Richard Panik (?) The situation regarding Richard Panik is unclear. He was not at the Islanders camp, he was officially transferred to the AHL via the waiver list, but it is not yet known where he will start the season and whether it will be overseas at all. New York Rangers – Jaroslav Halák (NHL), Adam Sýkora (HK Nitra) Jaroslav Halák will start the new season as the second goalkeeper when he will cover the back of last season’s best goalkeeper trophy winner Igor Šestorkin. Adam Sýkora left the camp earlier and, according to the agreement, rejoined HK Nitra. Read also Adam Sýkora: I was scared that I injured the winner of the Vezina trophy Tampa Bay Lightning – Maxim Čajkovič (AHL), Erik Černak (NHL) Maxim Čajkovič was removed from the camp and sent to the AHL, where he should start the new year. It was the same last year. At that time, he did not stay in the AHL and was sent to the ECHL. Erik Černák will start in the NHL as one of the pillars of the defensive ranks. Vegas Golden Knights – Jakub Demek (?) did not participate in the camp due to injuries. So it is questionable where he will start the new season. It should be in the AHL, but a continuation in the junior WHL is probably more realistic. Washington Capitals – Martin Fehérváry (NHL) According to expectations, Martin Fehérváry will start the new season in the first team. He should be part of the first defense again.
