The situation in Occitania
Regarding the situation in the region, there are still 1230 hospitalizations this evening, 16 more than Tuesday. Among the hospitalized patients, 300 are in intensive care and critical care, or 15 more in 3 days!
Since Tuesday, 36 people have died consequences of the virus in health establishments, bringing the toll to 4,813 deaths in regional hospitals since the start of the epidemic in March 2020.
This bulletin also highlights the strong increase in recent weeks of vaccination of 12-17 year olds : in total, they are now more than 243,000 in Occitania to have started these vaccination procedures this summer, without waiting for the start of the school year.
This is an approach that already concerns nearly 60% of the 411,000 teenagers aged 12 to 17 in the region. In the context of preparations for the start of the new school year, this rate is progressing very quickly: it was only 41.9% at the beginning of August. The youngest are showing the example to all those who are still called upon to be vaccinated this summer.
In total to date, 83.5% of the population that can be vaccinated (over 12 years old) has already received a first dose of vaccine in Occitania.
