Aragonès insists that the decision to break up is Junts’ but asks them to decide “quickly”

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, maintains the dismissal of vice president Jordi Puigneró, but has shaken off all responsibility for the crisis of the government coalition with Junts, assuring that the decision to break up is made by the postconvergents, not by the republican formation. “It was not appropriate to present the proposal for a matter of trust, which is why it has led to the dismissal of the vice president. We need institutions at the service of citizens,” he reiterated while warning that he “always” stands up for his decisions. Alluding to Junts’ announcement to consult the bases if he should continue in the Govern, Aragonès has maintained that it harms citizens and has asked for a quick response: “My commitment to continue defending the institutions of Catalonia. My project will always be to respond to the demands of citizens”, he assured. “I hope that the debates are held as quickly as possible,” he said. Aragonès has insisted that his “priority” is the continuity of the current government, a coalition with Junts. “Here I am showing my face because I am very clear about what the country’s institutions represent”; he has said and has recalled the application of article 155, five years ago as a result of the process that intervened the institutions “which has cost us a lot to maintain”.
