NAIROBI – Slovak athlete Viktória Forsterová took hundreds of sixth place in the final at the U20 World Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. As in the semifinals, she ran a time of 11.54 seconds and thus equaled her own Slovak record. It was only three hundredths of a second apart from the bronze medal.

After Eva Glesková-Lehocká (8th in the final at the 1972 Olympics in Munich), Katarína Adlerová’s ward was only the second in Slovakia in the final of the 100 m run at the global world event in history. “I believed that Victoria would not sell cheap skin and fight in the finals. Before the start she was well prepared and in a good mood. She showed a great start and the whole run, I did not find any mistakes in it so quickly. Perhaps only a piece of sports happiness was missing in the end. Gold was not won by Namibian Beatrice Masilingi (11.39 s), who finished sixth in the doubles final at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, but by sovereign Tina Clayton from Jamaica in a personal record of 11.09 s.

The final took place 40 minutes later than planned. Due to heavy rain, the program at Kasarani Stadium was interrupted. “It wasn’t such a problem for us, as they interrupted the race before warming up for the finals,” noted by Adlerová for atletika.sk.

Andrea Švecová did not advance to the finals in the 400 m prec. In the second run she had the 7th place in the time 1: 02.60 min. Overall, she took 17th place.
