There are usually only minor changes in the ranking of the world’s biggest bestsellers, and when one car moves up more than two ranks in it, it is extreme. However, the semiconductor crisis and the war in Ukraine significantly affected the order. And not only in its lower part, but even on the podium. The Tesla Model 3 continues its sleepy ride up. A year ago, it was somewhere at the end of the top twenty, at the end of last year it had already worked its way up to the 9th position, and after the first half of 2022 it is even third. Tesla’s success is further highlighted by the Model Y, which entered the top ten for the first time, finished ninth and was just a few units short of finishing eighth. In addition, both of its models have improved year-on-year by tens of percent at a time when sales are falling for most others. However, the most successful brand is, as many times before, Toyota. It has four representatives among the ten best-selling cars in the world, three of which (Corolla, RAV4 and Camry) are even in the top five. They are complemented by the Hilux pickup, which completes the top 10. And it wasn’t long before another Toyota got into it, namely the Yaris Cross. The Tesla Model 3 made it to the winner’s podium and displaced the iconic Ford F-Series pickup from third place. Already at the end of last year, the Model 3 “jumped” by 7 places and entered the top ten for the first time. Now he made another huge leap and after the first half of the year he is already third. As for specific numbers, 384,000 units of the Tesla Model 3-up were sold in the first half of 2022. Tucson was ninth in mid-2021, dropped out of the top 10 at the end of it, and currently returned to the 8th position among world bestsellers. For the first half of 2022, it was 297,000, and it worsened by 5.2 percent year-on-year. 9th place: Tesla Model Y Photo: Tesla Tesla Model Y Tesla Model Y entered the top 10 best-selling cars in the world for the first time. It entered the top ten for the first time and thanks to it, Tesla has two models in the top 10 for the first time. 297,000 Tesla Model Y units were sold in the first half of 2022. It improved by more than 126 percent year-on-year and was only a few units short of “jumping over” the Hyundai Tucson in 8th place.
