Last week, even the proposal to amend section 363 from the OĽANO deputies’ workshop did not pass. On the agenda is a similar amendment by the non-aligned MP Tomáš Valášek. Alojz Baránik claims that there were other good changes in his submitted proposal than just the restriction of section 363 of the Criminal Code. They were supposed to contribute to building the rule of law in Slovakia in terms of the functioning of the prosecutor’s office. He indicated that the We Are Family movement goes against the government’s program statement. SaS leader Richard Sulík also pointed out the attitude of We are a family. He considers the vote in the NR SR to be proof of “who is baking with whom”, and not only in section 363. Mária Kolíková (SaS) pointed out that the legislators ignored the call Let’s stop corruption and Via iuris with 25,000 signatures. He argues that the professional public is also in favor of changing the provision. “It is really sad that deputies from OĽANO, whether current or former, blocked the adoption of the new legislation together with We are a family,” she declared. On Tuesday, the OĽANO club voted to move the amendment to the second reading, with the exception of Igor Hus, who was absent. The change was also supported by unaffiliated MPs from Za lúdí, unaffiliated Tomáš Valášek and Miroslav Kollár, as well as former member of the OĽANO club Ján Mičovský. Against was the movement We are a family, which also includes two former members of the OĽANO club. The amendment was not supported by the rest of the opposition either. Katarína Hatráková (unclassified) abstained. The Party for People regrets that the change did not go through. He talks about his abuse by the Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka. “Article 363 is a dangerous tool in the wrong hands. The bottom line is that the Attorney General should not have the opportunity to stop the prosecution before the court, which is supposed to decide on the guilt or innocence of the accused,” the party said. He wants to continue to push for the police to have their hands untied.
