The unnamed woman took to the Mumsnet forum, where she explained that she plans to keep her husband’s surname even after the divorce, as she is professionally known by it. Legally, he has every right to do so. However, it upset her ex-husband considerably. At the same time, she stated that she never liked her birth name anyway. “My divorce was recently finalized after living separately from my ex-husband for some time. I got a message from him this morning because he noticed that I still have his last name in my name on my LinkedIn profile. I politely informed him that I will not change my last name back to my birth name,” the woman wrote in the post. She immediately explained to him that even though they have no children, she is already professionally known under this name. In addition, the husband’s last name is not unique or unusual in any way, so it is not associated with a specific person. According to her, the process of changing the surname is too long and exhausting, which she does not have the energy for after the divorce. “I should emphasize that I am now in a new relationship, my new partner is well aware of all this and does not see any problem,” the woman added.
