‘Hermine’ causes strong runoff that reaches the beach in Telde (Gran Canaria)

The tropical depression ‘Hermine’ has caused in Telde (Gran Canaria) strong runoff through the channels of the ravines that reach the beaches, especially in Melenara. In a statement, the City Council has explained that a road has also collapsed power outages and falling walls and rubble, among other incidents. So far, most of the incidents that have been recorded in the municipality have consisted of water entering homes, electricity supply cuts, mainly on the coast, electrical problems in light towers (in Caserones and the La Rocha ravine). The erosion of the rain has caused the collapse of a section of Eolo street, in La Higuera Canaria, which has been closed to traffic and has signaled by the Municipal Services area. On the other hand, there was a detachment of a 500-meter wall located before the Cuatro Puertas roundabout, which was attended to by the Local Police and security personnel. he road maintenance service of the Cabildo Gran Canaria and another on Calle La Virgen, in Lomo Magullo. There have also been rubble falls on building facades –one of them affected a vehicle parked on the road–; the rupture of a pipe and a sewer at the Ancla roundabout, on Margarita de La Garita street; and the flooding of the Las Huesas ambulance base. Finally, the municipal staff also went to Callejón del Castillo to help rescue a horse that had been partially buried in the mud.
