In 2019, he surprised the entire Czech Republic during the StarDance show when he admitted that he has been fighting a serious illness for years. Czech actor Miroslav Hanuš (59) shocked everyone. After forty, he began to tear his soul from his body and was crushed by depression. He couldn’t arrange anything, had trouble getting to work and was tormented by pain. 15 years ago, he was hospitalized at a psychiatric hospital in Strešovice, and then for six and a half years he went to a group at the psychotherapeutic services center every Tuesday: “The theater already knew not to give me difficult performances on Tuesdays, because I left there tired, as if I had broken down a wagon coal,” he once told reflex.cz. But these sessions were not easy. Of the twelve people who started with it, only four made it to the successful end. “I’ve had a lot of guys much bigger than me start screaming and running. I already knew that something was hurting them terribly,” Hanuš describes the meetings and added one story. “When we told someone that he was like a small child, he started shouting that he was the director of the company! After that, we just saw him pack his briefcase and run away to his own world screaming, never to come again,” added the native of Prague, who also had to deal with the death of his therapist during the treatment. In short, it took time for his soul to heal, but he admits that it is already a lifelong task. Even if he is already doing well, short-term relapses can still accompany him, so he also helps himself with antidepressants. “Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes a little. I’m an experienced patient, as my doctor says and adds to that – no one can see into your head anyway, you already know it, so prepare accordingly,” concluded the well-known actor.
