The club placed him on the list of long-term injured players, which also includes goalkeeper Robin Lehner and defender Shea Weber. Patrick’s career has been accompanied by injuries for a long time. They did not escape him already in the 2016/2017 year, in which he worked in the WHL junior competition. Until then, hockey experts and scouts had him in the position of the unit of the 2017 draft, but it was because of health problems that he was finally number two. The Philadelphia Flyers reached out to him and spent four seasons in their organization. In the first two, he played 73 and 72 games, while in the second year he set his personal best with 31 points in the regular season. He missed the 2019/2020 season entirely after being diagnosed with severe migraines. In the next year, he returned to the NHL and played 52 games with 9 points. In July 2021, the Golden Knights acquired the rights to him, and two months later he signed a two-year contract with the club. However, he did not avoid health problems even in his new place of work, and due to several concussions, he played only 25 games.
