A Turkish truck driver, domiciled in Germany, was indicted Thursday, September 22, suspected of having killed a young woman who was riding a scooter after having deliberately touched her with his truck, said the Montbéliard prosecutor’s office (Doubs). The latter requested the provisional detention of the 59-year-old driver, indicted for the criminal acts of “willful violence resulting in death without intention of giving it”, Thursday at the end of his police custody. Tuesday afternoon in Montbéliard, the Turkish driver, leaving a Stellantis site to connect to another, knocked down and crushed the driver of a scooter. The 21-year-old young woman did not survive. Witnesses to the scene told the police in particular that the heavyweight approached the scooter and hit it abnormally, some indicating that they had the impression that the driver was trying to move the moped driver forward. “These testimonies and analyzes of the tachograph disk – which records the speed and activity of a vehicle – must still be refined”, according to the prosecutor. The truck driver on the contrary declared during his police custody that he had “seen nothing, felt nothing”. According to him, “he would have stopped after hearing cars honking and looking in his rear view mirror, where he saw the scooter and the body”.
