Protests in Iran for Mahsa, activist Neda Day: “Italy convene ambassador”

An appeal to all Italian politicians to take a stand against the repression in Iran of the protesters who for six consecutive days have been protesting against the death of 22-year-old of Kurdish origin Mahsa Amini. This is what Taher Djafarizad, Iranian dissident president of the Neda Day association addresses, through an interview with Aki-Adnkronos International. “We ask for two important things. The first is that Italian politicians, all of them, take a serious and convincing position against the criminal acts that are carried out by the regime and condemn” what is happening in Iran, says Djafarizad, who also asks the government to “convene the Iranian embassy”. The second request, the president of the association Neda Day points out, is addressed to the Islamic communities that “for the umpteenth time do not take a stand” in front of the demonstrations in Iran although they claim to “be for peace”. “Muslims cannot remain indifferent to apartheid towards women”, he concludes.
