the essential TV host Patrick Sébastien is going to publish a book in which he announces that he has been operated on for kidney cancer. He evokes the separation with his wife Nana and returns to his eviction from France Télévisions. “It was a tsunami that hit me.” Cancer, separation, job loss…these last few months have been very complicated for Patrick Sébastien. The TV host recounts these difficult months in the book “Vivre” which will be released on September 29 by XO editions. It was last January that he discovered the disease. During a follow-up ultrasound, her doctor noticed a small white spot and prescribed an MRI and a biopsy. The verdict is in: it’s kidney cancer. “Even if it was 3 centimeters, it was not invasive and did not require chemo,” says Patrick Sébastien on the set of Buzz TV. He is operated and remains eight hours under anesthesia. “Rehabilitation and convalescence were complicated,” admits the 68-year-old host. Even today, a 40 cm scar reminds him of his cancer, now cured. Patrick Sébastien makes a link between his cancer and his eviction from France Télévisions. “It’s not directly related, but there is a link between stress and health, he explains to Buzz TV. He remembers being diagnosed with melanoma after his mother’s death. Two months after his operation, Patrick Sébastien goes back on stage. He must also face the separation with his wife of 30 years Nana. A separation which he describes as intelligent. “It is an exemplary separation, amicably. We can separate without tearing each other apart,” says Patrick Sébastien, who had adopted a little girl, Lily, with Nathalie Boutot nicknamed Nana. “For years, we had different lives. She wanted to have more freedom. It doesn’t change much, except that we no longer live together”, he explains in Gala. However, the couple does not want to divorce! “She remains a support. We continue to work together, she takes care of my production house. I can’t be an artist and manager. It is therefore she who manages”. Ousted from France Télévisions in 2018, Patrick Sébastien affirms that he does not miss television. He only misses production. He finds his happiness on stage and continues to be on tour regularly. he watches on TV today: Rugby on Canal +, “Secrets d’histoires” and “Questions for a champion”.
