In the tourist district in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro on the popular Copacabana beach, two Slovak women Katarína N. (43) and Viktória B. (21) were attacked on the beach near the gas station while watching the sunrise. Pictures and videos show victims with bloodied and disfigured faces. These were two minors aged 17. Both were detained while trying to escape, Globo reported. The women were seriously injured, one of them even had a fractured face. They were given first aid at the emergency room in Copacabana and later taken to the Miguel Cout hospital in Leblon. Then two minors approached them and asked them for money. When they refused, they started beating them with their fists,” said delegate Patrícia Alemanyová from the Tourism Promotion Office. It is said that the detained minors already have a long criminal record with several records for robberies, thefts, threats and corruption. The military police also managed to find stolen mobile phones.
