China demands a ceasefire in Ukraine after the mobilization announced by Putin

The Chinese government has called for dialogue to resolve the war in Ukraine and has stated that “the legitimate security concerns of all countries must be taken seriously.” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, has stated that “efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful solution” should be “supported”. “China asks all the parties to resolve the differences through dialogue and consultations,” he pointed out at a press conference. Thus, he has called for a ceasefire and a solution “as soon as possible” that contemplates the “concerns of security” of all parties, while pointing out that the international community must “create the conditions” to facilitate this dialogue. Wang has not spoken directly about the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin on a “partial mobilization” nor on the announcement of several Ukrainian regions controlled by Russian troops to hold referendums in the coming days on their possible accession to Russia.
