Concerns about the nuclear threat! The Swiss president published the status after the meeting with Lavrov, these are dark words – Novy Čas

On Wednesday, Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, expressed the Swiss’ concern over the threat of using nuclear weapons. TASR took the report from the Neue Zürcher Zeitung website on Thursday. “I called on Russia to stop organizing the so-called referendum on the occupied territories in Ukraine,” Cassis wrote on the social network. “Switzerland is also very concerned about any threat of using nuclear weapons,” said the Swiss president, who met with Lavrov on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly in New York. According to Cassis, neutrality and good relations continue to be “tools” for dialogue. Since 2017, Cassis has been at the head of the Swiss Department of Diplomacy. Last December, the Swiss parliament elected him president of the country. The term of office of the Swiss head of state lasts one year. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in Russia on Wednesday ahead of referendums in four Ukrainian regions on joining the Russian Federation. In addition, Putin warned the West that if it continues with “nuclear blackmail”, Moscow will respond with its entire huge arsenal of weapons.
