Important In his speech at the UN General Assembly, Ukrainian President Zelensky calls for “fair punishment” of Russia and the establishment of a tribunal. “Russia must pay for this war,” he said. Zelenskyj called on world leaders to take away Russia’s right to vote in international institutions and the possibility of a veto in the UN Security Council. The aggressors must be punished and isolated, he said. The Ukrainian president did not attend the meeting in person, but spoke via a pre-recorded video. During his speech, he stated that there are five non-negotiable conditions for peace. These include punishing Russian aggression, restoring Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity, as well as security guarantees. “A crime was committed against our borders, our people, women, men, children. We only want punishment for stealing our territory, for torturing our men and women. We did not provoke this war,” Zelensky emphasized. “Ukraine wants peace, Europe wants peace, the world wants peace. You can see who is the only one who wants war,” he added. (SME, ČTK)
