The level of the reservoirs is reduced to a third of the capacity of Spain despite the rains

Water reserves stand at 33.5% of their total capacity, compared to 40.5% last year at this point and 51.4% on average in the last ten years.Total water in reservoirs is 18,810 cubic hectometres. It is the lowest level since the historic drought of 1995. Despite the rainfall in recent days, the volume of water in reservoirs has fallen by 0.7% in the last week. By region, the worst situation continues to be recorded in the following:Guadalquivir: 20.6%;Guadalete-Barbate: 23.8%;Guadiana: 23.8%.Thus, 2022 becomes the second year with less reservoir water since 1990, only behind 1995, when in the same week the reservoirs accumulated 26.55 percent of water, according to data from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). The reserve has almost 10,000 hectometers less resources than the average of the last ten years and almost 4,000 less than a year ago.
