After two years of the pandemic, the contemporary art festival Biela noc returns to the streets of Bratislava and Košice in its original format. It starts in Bratislava today (Friday 16.9.) and will last until Sunday, in a week it will move to the east of Slovakia. In 2020, the festival was not held at all due to the pandemic, last year it was transformed into a two-week festival. “We considered for a long time where we will move this year, because last year we had good responses, especially for the duration of the festival,” says Zuzana Pacáková, artistic director of Biela noci. After consideration, however, they decided to return to the ambitions with which they started the White Night in Slovakia twelve years ago, modeled after the French Nuit Blanche. These also include large productions by recognized foreign authors, digital and interactive works that would be difficult not only to operate, but also to pay for over a longer period. “I believe that people will enjoy them even in concentrated time, which also creates a specific atmosphere of our festival,” adds Pacáková.
