Trade unionists are collecting doctors’ resignations: the Ministry of Health cannot increase their wages as much as they want – Topky.sk

“Visolajský’s request for a doctor’s basic salary of up to 5,800 euros cannot be met,” states the department. “We have the greatest interest from teaching hospitals, but smaller ones are also involved,” explained Visolajský on the margin of collecting resignations. The individual presidents of the basic trade union organizations of LOZ did not want to state the exact numbers yet. “Since this is a Slovakia-wide action by LOZ, we do not publish the numbers for individual hospitals, LOZ will officially publish them centrally for all hospitals at the end of September, then we will know the number of resignations,” said Ján Sýkora from the Children’s Institute of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Bratislava. Archive video: Lengvarský: The average salary increase is currently 256 euros, bringing the average salary of a doctor to 4,000 euros. Visolajský reminded again that the trade unionists insist on meeting all eight demands. “The fact that they are justified is acknowledged by health analysts and the government itself. So far, however, no steps have been taken by the government to fulfill them,” he noted. According to him, further negotiations on the topic have not taken place since August 19. According to the Ministry of Health, it is impossible to comply with the proposal to increase the salaries of doctors, which is requested by LOZ. The Ministry of Health also points out that, together with the Department of Finance, they proposed to increase the salary coefficients of doctors in institutional facilities, to increase the salary according to the number of years of service, and to include part of the maternity and parental leave among the years of service. “Peter Visolajský’s demands, however, include increases in doctors’ salaries of up to 216.4 percent for doctors without specialization and up to 123.1 percent for doctors with specialization and 40 years of experience,” the department said. He added that LOZ wants a doctor with a specialization and 40 years of experience to have a basic salary of more than 5,800 euros, which is about 3,200 euros more than at present. According to the requirements, a doctor without specialization and with 40 years of experience would have a basic salary of more than 4,400 euros, that is, almost 3,100 euros more than today.
