Pyrénées-Orientales – Cyclist fatally broke on the RD 914 Friday evening: two men placed in custody – The Independent

The gendarmes arrested two men this Saturday morning September 17 and placed them in police custody. While the victim, a cyclist in his thirties who was traveling on the 4 lanes between Argelès and Perpignan, has not yet been identified, the gendarmerie investigation is being carried out at full speed. The fatal collision between the bicycle and a large Opel brand utility vehicle occurred on Friday evening around 8:30 p.m. The driver of the machine, as well as his passenger, who continued on their way after the shock, were quickly located by investigators. Heard by the gendarmes since this Saturday morning, the two men maintain that they did not see the cyclist, hit in an unlit area and prohibited for two-wheelers. On the other hand, they would have actually “felt something”, without, it seems, realizing that they had hit a man. Their van would indeed be damaged. The criminal identification technicians of the Perpignan gendarmerie company continue their findings on the vehicle as well as on the bicycle. DNA samples were taken from the victim in order to put a name to the unfortunate cyclist.
