Another wave of heavy rainfall is headed for Slovakia. It will snow in the mountains. Where does the most precipitation fall? – iMeteo.sk

The coming hours will bring another wave of significant rainfall to our area. Precipitation that is expected will affect many areas, including Slovakia, while at higher altitudes it will be snowfall. Tens of millimeters can fall. While the first half of the weekend brought cold but calm weather to our territory, the second half of the weekend will bring heavy rainfall to our area. Above the Adriatic, there is a pressure trough, which brought fairly heavy precipitation to the Alpine region during the past night, which was above 1500 m above sea level, locally even lower, with up to 25 cm of snow falling. Now, the large precipitation field associated with this depression will move into our area and bring precipitation, including snow, to our area. It will start raining already in the evening. We are already noticing the first precipitation right now in the southernmost districts. However, the precipitation is not abundant yet. But that will change on Sunday night. A large precipitation field will begin to move over our territory from the southwest. This will be related to the low pressure, which will quickly move from the Adriatic, through the Balkans, Romania and over Ukraine. In the evening and at night, it will gradually spread from the south to many places in central and eastern Slovakia. Rainfall is also expected in the west, but it will be neither extensive nor abundant. The heaviest precipitation is expected in eastern Slovakia, where more than 20 mm of precipitation could fall by Sunday morning. The precipitation will stop during the morning, but during Sunday we are expecting more precipitation, which will also bring fresh snow to the mountains. It will snow in the mountains Due to the influence of the cold current, the snow level is currently falling in our territory. It will gradually decrease during Sunday to a level of around 1500 m above sea level. Precipitation should increase in intensity in the north of Slovakia on Sunday afternoon. Snowfall is expected from a height of 1500 m above sea level. Snowflakes await not only the High and Low Tatras, but also other peaks of our mountains. However, a new snow cover is expected above all from an altitude of 2000 m above sea level, where several centimeters of new snow may fall. The coming hours will bring relatively significant precipitation to our territory, which will affect mainly the east and north of the territory. The expected rainfall distribution can be found below the article.
