On Friday evening, the British police detained a man who allegedly committed a riot in the premises of the Palace of Westminster. The coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth II is currently on display there with state honours, the BBC reports.
The British Metropolitan Police (MPS) announced that its officers arrested the man at approximately 10:00 p.m. local time (11:00 p.m. CEST) in Westminster Hall. In this oldest part of the Palace of Westminster, there is a coffin with the remains of Elizabeth II.
According to the police, the man was arrested for violating public order and is currently in custody. However, what he committed was not immediately known, according to the BBC. The Guardian newspaper reported that the man managed to climb the stairs to an elevated place and touch the coffin.
