How are the phone calls with Putin going? German Chancellor Scholz talks about progress! – Topky.sk

According to Scholz, the talks were friendly even when both politicians had “really very different and divergent views on the matter”. When asked how he would summarize the phone calls with Putin, the chancellor replied that there was “definitely progress” on the part of the head of the Kremlin, but it “didn’t lead to anything”. The Federal Chancellor insisted on resolving the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic means, which should include a ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, writes DPA. Scholz also stated that Germany is trying to negotiate the terms of the supply of weapons to Ukraine, while according to him, it was the armament from Germany that “allowed Ukraine to achieve its current successes.” Ukraine has repeatedly asked Western countries to supply it with Western-made battle tanks. DPA reminds that not a single NATO country has done so yet. Scholz’s Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and its coalition partners the Greens and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) recently supported the expansion of arms supplies to Ukraine.
