Realme GT Explorer Master Edition: our photos of the smartphone that takes itself for a suitcase – Frandroid

The Realme GT Explorer Master Edition is one of three phones in the GT range – alongside the Realme GT and GT Master Edition – presented internationally. We were able to find out in the editorial staff, and take some pictures of this little car.

Tested and approved by the editorial staff, in particular for its excellent performance, battery life, design and screen, the Realme GT was joined by two variations recently presented internationally. For the moment, we still do not know if the pair will land in our regions.

The two iterations marry the following denomination: Realme GT Master Edition and Realme GT Explorer Edition, both less powerful than their big brother. Frandroid was able to quickly take in hand the last named: the opportunity to take a look at its design, its interface and its performance.

Inspired design … suitcases

Let’s start with the design… frustrating to say the least. That of the Realme GT had particularly convinced us with its vegetable leather back with a very pleasant touch. Good news: that of the GT Explorer Edition takes this particularity, but adds horizontal bands which stand out slightly from the rear facade.

Because named Explorer, this phone calls for travel. The Realme teams, and more particularly the designer Naoto Fukasawa who oversaw the project, therefore designed the product “with a unique design influence in mind: suitcases», We can read. Why not, but we could clearly have done without.

Otherwise, the grip of the phone is good, with curved edges that accentuate the immersion. Placed on the left, the volume buttons fall perfectly under the fingers, just like the power button located on the right edge. This Realme GT Explorer Master Edition does not benefit from any jack.

A stylish interface, but not adapted

The software interface installed on our copy is not the version suitable for Western audiences. Consequence: we are thus entitled to a mixture between French and Chinese. You are dealing with a Chinese keyboard which is the only possible solution in the settings. To download another keyboard, you will have to go through APKs, since the Play store is not installed for the benefit of the App Market store.

To type text in a search bar is quite an adventure. There is no question here of a classic keyboard as we are used to using. To enter a Latin letter, you must keep pressing one of the groups of letters displayed, which will bring up a pop-up window with several options: your letter in question is in this menu.

Beyond these few practical difficulties, the interface itself is really pretty. The application icons have style and benefit from a color gradient that is very flattering on the eye. It’s appreciated. The OS also gives pride of place to fluidity.

On the performance side, this Explorer version is based on a Qualcomm 8 series chip, the Snapdragon 870. A slightly less powerful SoC than the S888 installed in the Realme GT, therefore, but which holds the road very well to everyday life for classic tasks and even greedy 3D games.

On AnTuTu, its scores are logically a hair below its counterpart, but they still occupy the top of the rankings. Finally, note that this Realme GT Explorer benefits from a triple rear photo module dominated by a main 50 megapixel sensor.

No information on the European price

Internationally, this device will be sold for $ 499 for the 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage version, against $ 549 for the 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage version.

Realme has yet to say whether the phone will be released in France.
