The Realme Book is now launched, we know everything about it… and it is attractive – Frandroid

Yesterday Realme announced several products including the highly anticipated Realme Book. The brand’s first laptop PC is entering the Chinese and Indian markets with an interesting technical sheet and a reasonable price. We take stock of what he is offering … by crossing our fingers that it also arrives in Europe.

We already had spoken several times, but the Realme Book is now officially presented. As a reminder, this is the very first laptop PC from the Chinese brand, which takes the form of a 14-inch ultraportable in 3: 2 format. Used in particular by Microsoft Surface devices, this screen ratio provides a larger display area and thus promotes the display of vertical content. A valuable asset in office automation or when browsing the web.

The device can also count on a 2K IPS panel (2160 by 1440 pixels) fully covering the sRGB color space while displaying up to 400 nits of luminance. These values ​​promise us a bright and easily readable screen. Realme finally mentions a Corning Gorilla Glass treatment to limit the appearance of scratches on the panel. The edges of the screen are also quite small, with a frame / screen ratio announced at 90%.

A perfect machine for office automation and light multimedia

The device itself benefits from a metal chassis (presumably an aluminum alloy) 14.9 mm thick with the cover folded down, a fingerprint sensor and a backlit keyboard ( at three levels of brightness). The whole does not exceed 1.38 kg, which is rather average of what we see in the competition. For comparison, the Apple MacBook Air is limited to 1.29 kg for 16.1 mm thick. As previously announced by Realme, the Realme Book is also available in two colors: Real Blue and Real Gray.

Let’s come to the most interesting: what is hidden in the bowels of the machine. On this side, Realme engages in an exercise of cost control by limiting itself to the choice of an 11th generation Core i3 or i5 (Tiger Lake-U). No i7 option for what remains above all a mid-range office machine. The chosen processor will on the other hand be kept cool by two fans and the dissipation system. “Storm Cooling” developed by Realme. We do not know for the moment what are the precise references of the processors available, but we imagine that Realme has turned to the Intel Core i5-1135G7 and Core i3-1125G4, probably configured in 12 or 15 W given the fineness of the device.

These Intel chips will be coupled with 8 or 16 GB of RAM depending on the configuration selected, and we can finally count on 256 or 512 GB of SSD. The Realme Book should allow up to 11 hours of battery life, with the prospect of a quick recharge thanks to a 65 W charger. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity is also in the game, as is a USB port. -C Thunderbolt 4 (in addition to a classic USB-C port, a USB-A input and a headphone jack).

The Realme Book arrives in China and India from 749 dollars (640 euros HT) in its configuration i3 / 8 GB of RAM / 256 GB of SSD. On the other hand, it will be necessary to count on 999 dollars (854 euros HT) for the i5 model / 16 GB of RAM / 512 GB of SSD. It is difficult at this stage to know whether or not the device will reach Europe.
