The new model of PS5 available today? – Lemon squeezer

Last month, we spoke to you of a new model of PS5 (with a lighter chassis with serial number 1100B). It looks like Sony is ready to release its new console in the next few hours. According to the account StationOfPlay on Twitter, the new PS5 Digital Edition should go on sale this Thursday, August 19.

As we told you a few weeks ago, this new console will be identical to the PS5 Digital Edition already on the market. The big difference concerns the chassis (lighter by 300 grams). This 2021 version of the PS5 Digital Edition would weigh 3.6 kg against 3.9 kg for the original model.

The rest of the technical sheet is strictly identical (processor, SSD, RAM, connectors, power consumption, etc.), except for the attachment of the base. The latter seems indeed doomed to mainly accommodate a new screw for assembly.

At this time, Sony has still not communicated on this information. However, the price of the machine should not budge. This small change could perhaps allow PlayStation to slightly increase the production and distribution of the console to prepare for the start of the school year, the Christmas holidays and end the fiscal year on a high note to achieve their goals.

The latest news is that the manufacturer is already sure to beat the PS4 record. Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s CFO announced in early August that the brand has secured enough chips to exceed the 14.8 million PS5s sold by March 31, 2022.

To date, the PS5 is the fastest-selling video game console in history. Despite the shortage, Sony’s latest machine has already hit the bar of the 10 million units sold in just 35 weeks. The previous record is held by the PS4 which had achieved the feat in 39 weeks.
