The Ministry of Defense in Baku, in turn, claims that the fighting was triggered by a large-scale sabotage attempt by Armenia, which it accused of large-scale subversive acts near the districts of Dashkasan, Kalbajar and the city of Lachin, located on the edge of the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region. The ministry also said that Azerbaijani soldiers lost their lives; however, it did not state the number of victims.
