Millions in a peloton. Sagana was dethroned by a young man with a dream contract – PRAVDA.sk

According to foreign media, the two-time and reigning winner of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogačar, became the best-earning cyclist in the professional peloton.

This is due to his new contract with the UAE Emirates team. He insured his ace until the end of the 2027 season.

According to the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the annual salary of an early 23-year-old Slovenian is six million euros. The contract will thus bring him skillfully 36 million for the entire duration of it – without potential bonuses.

“I signed one of the longest contracts in the history of professional cycling. I am glad that I was able to commit to the future here.

He came to the stable from the United Arab Emirates two years ago and it was his third contract extension.

As Cyclingnews.com points out, this contract has put him at the top of the list of the best earning cyclists.

According to this source, its current leader Peter Sagan came to 5.5 million euros a year (L’Equipe reported about five million).

The Star Slovak recently confirmed his departure from the German group Bora-Hansgrohe and from the new year he will present himself in the colors of the French team TotalEnergies. The contract is valid for the years 2022 and 2023.

In second place was the four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome from the Israel Start-Up Nation team with a salary of 4.5 million euros. The Brit should also present himself at the Around Slovakia event in mid-September.

Pogačar, the holder of the yellow, white and dotted jersey from this year’s Tour, the winner of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège monument and the bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, decided to skip the Vuelta and focus on the Flemish World Championships at the end of September.
