Prince William paid tribute to his beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. He published the first statement on her death on his official Instagram account. He did so two days after she left peacefully at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle. Even though it was apparently difficult for him to find words, he emotionally described the great sorrow he was experiencing. He described the beloved grandmother as an exceptional leader whose devotion to country, empire and the Commonwealth was absolute. The prince revealed that she provided him and his wife Kate with wisdom and reassurance and their children with memories that will last a lifetime. “I lost my grandmother. And while I will mourn her loss, I also feel incredible gratitude. She was by my side in my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will take some time before I feel that life without my grandmother is really real.” The prince thanked her for the kindness she showed him and his family, adding: “My grandmother said that sadness is a price , which we pay for love. All the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be a testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary queen. I will honor her memory by supporting my father, the King, in every way I can.” pic.twitter.com/BDm2ZR34Uz — The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) September 10, 2022 Buckingham Palace has released the official date for Queen Elizabeth’s final farewell.
