Čaputová faces questions: I could not dismiss Matovič or Sulík! I do not cover up or destroy the government, I am the president of the people – Topky.sk

From a number of questions, she decided to choose the ones that are repeated most often. And she decided to answer them. People are frustrated and want answers. “We selected some of them that are often repeated, and in this video I tried to answer them,” she wrote on the social network. I could not recall Matovič, Sulík or the government. Among all the questions, she chose seven key ones that were repeated. Most of them related to the departure of SaS and the coalition crisis, but also the energy crisis and price increases. People were also interested in why she did not dismiss Igor Matovič and Richard Sulík or the entire government. Čaputová explains in the video that she does not have the authority to dismiss either one of them or the entire government. “When a minister is supposed to end his position, it can only happen if he resigns, the prime minister proposes to dismiss him or he is dismissed in the parliament. It’s the same with the government, and then the president comes into play,” she explained. In the next question, he also explains why he cannot simply announce early elections. She also answered whether she could appoint a caretaker government. “An official government comes into consideration only if the government, which was duly appointed after the parliamentary elections, has ended,” she said. It’s frustrating for me that I can’t help more. Regarding the issue of price increases, the president said that it’s frustrating for her that she can’t help more. “As the president, I do not have so-called executive powers – I cannot adopt a law or decide on drawing funds from the budget so that they can be given, for example, to single mothers,” says the president. She added that in connection with this problem, she has already been meeting with experts since November 2021 to identify the groups of people who need the most help and, in particular, how to help them. She subsequently offered ideas and a system of solutions to the government. I do not cover or break the government. The President is often asked why she covers this government, but also questions about why she breaks this government. “Part of the answer is directly in the questions, because they exclude each other. I can’t cover it and break it at the same time… I’m trying to be as objective as possible. I’m not the president of this or any government – I’m trying to be the president of all people,” she said. In my competences, this means, for example, vetoing a law or taking it to the Constitutional Court. If necessary and if I consider it as appropriate, and it wasn’t just once, so I will praise this government, for example in the field of foreign policy, judicial reforms… In my opinion, not one of those theses that I am covering for the government fits,” says the president. “And if I destroy this government, it doesn’t suit me even more, because, believe me, as a citizen I would have much more freedom and desire to say what I think about this government. As president, I am very reserved precisely because it would that was not suitable from the point of view of the performance of my function,” explained Čaputová. At the end, she also answered questions about what her working week looks like or what made her happy recently.
