Afghanistan, Rome-Kabul airlift ahead

Today a further 2 C130Js will take off from Kuwait for Kabul. Also in execution of the airlift, in the late morning of today a KC 767 will land in Fiumicino carrying 200 Afghans evacuated yesterday from the Afghan capital. With today’s arrival, more than 500 former collaborators and their families transferred to Italy since last June when 228 Afghans were brought to our country with the Aquila 1 operation. directed by COVI Operational Command of Vertice Interforze, commanded by General Luciano Portolano, 8 aircraft, 4 KC767s that alternate between the area of ​​operation and Italy and 4 C130J, the latter located in Kuwait, from which the airlift departs for Kabul. Over 1,500 Italian soldiers from the Vertice Interforze Operational Command (COVI) are involved in this complex operation for the Rome-Kabul airlift at the order of Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini.
