Top 10: These are the best-selling cars in Slovakia for August and 8 months – True

Photo: Kia The new Kia Sportage clearly became the holiday bestseller in Slovakia. August is traditionally not one of the strong months in terms of car sales, and this year was no exception. According to data from the Association of the Automobile Industry (ZAP SR), a total of 6,695 passenger cars (category M1) were sold in it. The relatively positive thing is that there is no dramatic drop in the year-on-year comparison, the results are almost identical – in August 2021, according to ZAP SR data, 6,778 cars were sold. So the year-on-year difference is only 83 cars. Summer numbers In the summer, the Slovak bestseller was the Kia Sportage, which dominated the list of best-selling cars in Slovakia in July and August. This time, in the table below, we have chosen to compare the sales of cars in the two holiday months, where it is nice to see in the differences who has just received some cars and who continues to struggle with the lack of them. You can see, for example, that the VW concern already “caught a second wind” in August, they returned to the ranking of the best quite sharply, or at least the Golf, Scala and Kamiq moved up in it, which indicates that they are now able to produce in larger numbers even cheaper cars. Compared to July, the Toyota Corolla moved up the most in the first 15 – up to two dozen places. Despite the complicated political and economic situation in the world, we hope that by this time a year from now we will be able to state that after three years of crisis, the situation is returning to normal and we will once again approach the numbers from 2019. Slovak taste But back to 2022, from of which we have already completed two thirds. After only 8 months, the sale of electric cars has come close to 900 units, so we will probably reach a record this year, at least for them. However, there is nothing to celebrate, because we are among the worst countries in the EU in terms of their sales. Of the 896 purely electric cars sold so far, the most were Škoda (131), followed by Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai (in that order) with a relatively small distance. Behind the strong four there is already a greater distance. It is still true that the Slovaks did not like plug-in hybrids. Their sales only narrowly exceed the sales of electric cars, 933 of them have been registered so far. Hyundai sold the most (156) and BMW and Toyota also sold more than a hundred of them. In the first eight months of this year, 8,586 diesels were sold, and almost 11,500 hybrids. However, classic gasoline cars dominate the market, with 29,877 units sold in Slovakia by the end of August this year. If we look at the 15 best-selling cars in Slovakia in 8 months, there were only minimal changes in the ranking compared to the first half of the year. The first three ranks still belong to the Hyundai i30, which maintains a significant lead over the Kia Ceed and Škoda Fabia. Sandero moved down two places in two months, currently closing the top ten. The Toyota Yaris Cross, which is the most successful new product this year without competition, made its way to the 15th place in the ranking, temporarily displacing the Škoda Superb.
