Source: VW The prices of used cars in Slovakia, despite high inflation, have not increased for 5 months in a row. Since April of this year, used cars offered on the Slovak secondary market retain their value and do not increase in price. The median price stagnates at 7,500 euros. Despite the general rise in prices and high inflation, the prices of used cars have not risen for five months in a row. However, there are large regional price differences within the advertised used cars. For example, in the Bratislava region, where used cars are traditionally the most expensive, they are also the youngest. The lowest prices are in the Košice region, the oldest used vehicles are on offer in the Trenčín region. This follows from the Barometer market analysis, which is regularly carried out by AURES Holdings, the operator of the AAA AUTO and Mototechna car center network. “It is confirmed that used cars have reached a certain price ceiling, around which they have been holding for five months. July is traditionally a month in the environment of used cars, when the big players on the market try to motivate customers to buy even during the holidays, and prices are usually reduced. Despite the year-on-year inflation rate exceeding 11%, it is positive that the prices of used cars did not rise above the April level for five months. This development so far can already be considered a trend,” says Petr Vaněček, operations director of the AAA AUTO and Mototechna car center network. It is interesting to look at regional differences in used car offers. Traditionally, the most expensive, but also the youngest used cars are available in Bratislava. The median price here is close to 11,500 euros, but used cars are most often 7.3 years old. On the other hand, in the Trenčín region, used cars are the oldest, which also corresponds to the median price below the threshold of 6,500 euros. The most frequently offered used vehicle model on the Slovak market in August was traditionally the Škoda Octavia, which increased by 99 month-on-month, bringing the total to 3,491. The Škoda Fabia followed (1,949 cars), while the third place was occupied by the Volkswagen Golf (1,889 cars). Volkswagen Passat (1,707) and Škoda Superb (1,247) were also in the top five. The average value of the age of cars did not change in August compared to July and is still at the level of 10.7 years. The tachometer of the offered cars most often showed a value of 170,000 km. In August, there were 448 vehicles with a hybrid drive and 202 pure electric cars, an increase of 69 month-on-month.
