He sees his departure as a form of protest and a call for Heger to return “to the right side of history”. His media advisor Ivan Štulajter, who also advised Richard Sulík for eight years, left Prime Minister Eduard Heger on Monday. He announced this in an interview with the newspaper N. The reason is the outcome of the coalition crisis, the failure of the prime minister to detach himself from the head of OĽaNO Igor Matovič and the fact that he stopped agreeing with the prime minister. At the same time, he refers to it as his own form of protest and “seduction”. “I know that the Prime Minister likes to use the expression ‘I am on the right side of history’. So with my departure, I am inviting him a little – Edo, return to the right side of history,” he said in the interview. Ivan Štulajter does not identify with how the government crisis ended. “I am very concerned about the direction of development in the country, and I do not even agree with the role played by Prime Minister Eduard Heger in it,” he says. According to him, Heger should have pushed for a solution more forcefully as prime minister. The moment he decided to leave was the day after the OĽaNO weekend teambuilding, where the prime minister fully supported Igor Matovič. Štulajter blames Heger for remaining in “Matović’s gravitational field”, from which he cannot detach himself. He also believes that Heger listened to Matovič more than his advisors. He does not even know that Heger would ever suggest to Matovič that he leave the government. He considers the coalition leaders to be masters of destruction Ivan Štulajter considers the coalition leaders Richard Sulík, Boris Kollár and Igor Matovič to be “masters of destruction”. “They demonstrated a high level of inability to handle state power in a way that would both fulfill their pre-election promises and the joint government program.” According to Heger’s former media advisor, things are not going well with this trio of leaders and that is why, from the point of view of prevention, the Prime Minister should have stepped on the brakes sooner . He sees current politics as “times of gladiators” who fight with their egos, with vulgar vocabulary, who vulgarize the entire public debate and help strengthen the extremes. But according to him, Heger is not such a gladiator. Sulík and Matovič fall into the camp of politicians who are a problem for democracy. According to him, political parties will avoid cooperation with OĽaNO as “the devil of the cross”, precisely because of the characteristics of Igor Matovič. A minority government can work better than a coalition of four. In light of the summer coalition crisis, Heger’s ex-consultant says that even Richard Sulík is not without fault and that the SaS ultimatum was not set correctly. However, according to him, continuous insults and attacks by Igor Matovič legitimized Sulík’s demand for Matovič’s departure. However, from the point of view of public interest, he perceives the decision of the SaS as irresponsible. If a sufficient majority is found in the National Council, not according to the party key, but according to rationality, morality, public interest, according to Štulajter, even a minority government can function in such a way that “we will not vomit”. “Theoretically, it can work better than in a coalition of four,” he adds. At the same time, however, he fears that something may emerge from such governance that will destroy and compromise the democratic system and discourage people from participating in elections. I rely on the fact that the majority of their deputies will behave constructively in the parliament,” said Finance Minister and OĽaNO leader Igor Matovič in an interview with Postoj TV. He also claims that there is a certain number of people in OĽaNO who have a different opinion on how the coalition crisis should have ended. “They have a big responsibility, how far they let it go. These people can really have a big influence on which direction the country will go,” he says, adding that Matovič is no longer counting on them, which in a sense also frees them. And what does the former media adviser think of the prime minister? “Heger is an honest person inside, he is a Christian, but he will never lead and provoke culture wars here, he is anchored in values, he understands very well that Slovakia belongs to the West. He knows what Western political culture looks like, which works and which also knows solve problems and make decisions in a civilized way,” he told the newspaper N. According to him, Eduard Heger still has many big tasks and challenges ahead of him.
